Knauf Group and Texnopark have announced a joint agreement for Knauf to acquire Texnopark’s Rock Mineral Wool insulation business. The acquisition includes a new plant in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, equipped with advanced electric melting technology which enables low CO2 emissions in production.

The transaction is anticipated to close by December 1, 2024.

The Tashkent plant, inaugurated in late 2022, produces a comprehensive range of low-carbon Rock Mineral Wool insulation materials for modern, energy efficient building construction.

“This acquisition marks a significant expansion of our insulation business activities in a new region,” stated Alexander Knauf, Speaker of the General Partners of the Knauf Group. “Central Asia, with its rapidly expanding construction market and increasing focus on energy efficiency, demands best-in-class materials to build sustainable, comfortable, and energy-efficient buildings. By leveraging Knauf's global expertise in Mineral Wool insulation, our Central Asian customers can now benefit from a broader range of solutions, building upon Knauf Group’s leading presence in the region and offering a comprehensive suite of products to meet their diverse needs, contributing to the construction of superior buildings.”

Uwe Knotzer, the General Partner of the KNAUF Group, added, “Uzbekistan's dynamic development, consistent implementation of the most important reforms that contribute to improving the investment climate in the country, give us confidence in the stable development of Uzbekistan's economy and the growing prosperity of its residents, and readiness for new investment steps in the region.”

Dominique Bossan, Member of the Knauf Group Management Committee and CEO of Knauf Insulation Europe/Middle East/Asia, added, “This acquisition is a strategic step in our long-term plan to expand our global presence. We recognise the growing demand for sustainable and low-carbon insulation solutions in the construction industry. The new plant will enhance our global reach and support our goal of creating future-proof buildings that prioritise comfort, quality, and sustainability.”
