The Head of Market Development Construction Europe will work on strategic marketing development and optimization of the overall value proposition. With full P&L Responsibility, the Market Development Manager will create marketing strategies for the assigned segment and identify the most effective methods for implementing it in this market. The construction market is split into residential and non-residential buildings and the focus in on new build as well as renovation.

The Head of Market Development Construction Europe is responsible for developing strategic marketing plans and roadmaps to ensure the company achieves its business goals of maximizing return on capital, profit and growth. Entrepreneurial spirit and a will to succeed attitude are essential for success in this position.

With 3 direct reports, consisting of 3 highly experienced / expert Product Managers, for Glass wool, Stone Wool and Wood Wool, the Market Development Manager will plan, direct and control the company's medium and long term strategic marketing activities; by initiating and managing strong relations with regional and local marketing & sales teams. He or she will also supervise the Product Managers, providing leadership to them and actively participating in the Management Team of the marketing group.

The Head of Market Development Construction Europe will focus strongly the end-user (solutions/applications) and substitution and promote the use of the company's target applications.

The role will be based in Mont-Saint-Guibert (Louvain-la-Neuve), Belgium and will require substantial travelling.

PRINCIPAUX OBJECTIFS ET RESPONSABILITES

 Develop and implement medium and long-term strategies and relevant value propositions by understanding the dynamics and potential opportunities of the construction industry.
 Create overall marketing strategies by utilizing market data, financial data, competitor data, trend data and by making assumptions about future competitor actions and future trends in the market
 Recommend pricing points for products utilizing external and internal market data, formulate and implement budgets and schedules for the marketing programs, monitor budgets
 Evaluate M&A or other opportunities to expand the business and sell projects internally to all levels of the organization
 Development of market entry strategies
 Identification of potential new applications within new markets and ensuring successful implementation throughout the regions
 Supervise marketing communication (including events, exhibitions, trade marketing activities etc.). The audience is mainly B2B, with a shift to B2C
 Interface consistently with group marketing strategies
 Establish performance indicators and benchmarks related to marketing strategy implementation and business performance in construction segment
 Measure actual performance against goals on a regular basis and present results to Senior Management
 Implementation of initiatives to grow market share and profit, such as new product development, strategic co-operations, etc.
 Effective lead generation from target markets and subsequent communication to the sales force
 Effective forecasting of product volumes in line with expected market conditions and dealing with strategic supply issues
 Effective communication of product and market management strategy to regional marketing and sales teams.

EXPERIENCE PROFESSIONNELLE REQUISE

The person we seek will be at ease operating effectively in an environment influenced by a management, which is highly entrepreneurial, driven by creativity and initiative, where the individual is the driving force. Integrity, organizational commitment and the ability to make decisions based on clarity of thought and persuasive argument is critical.

The person will be experienced in leading through influence, where the collaboration, communication and support of operations and peers is the key to success. He or she will have a 7 to 10-year track record in Market Development, new Product introduction, marketing and market analysis ideally in the construction/building materials industry and will have been engaged in similar projects on an international scale. The person we seek will take responsibility for providing the appropriate contribution to the success of the business through its marketing activities.

Familiar with the development, use and implementation of planning and forecasting systems, the ideal candidate will be distinguished by exceptional responsiveness to market developments, a willingness to take on responsibility and the drive to make things happen. This person will be a self-motivated professional, with a straightforward approach to problem solving. Combining pragmatism with an in-depth understanding of what it takes to succeed in this position will be important to success.

With the ability to discover and define commercial and technical customer requirements, the Market Development Manager likes working with people, is a team leader and player, who listens, probes and identifies what the customer is looking for. He or she understands the benefits of the products and matches these to the customer's needs and is able to grasp expectations and put this information into a marketing strategy.
