Knauf will realise a turnover of € 5.5 billion with 22,000 employees in over 40 countries and in more than 150 production facilities.
The company produces construction materials for drywall construction, Knauf plasterboard, mineral fibre acoustic board, dry mortar with gypsum for internal plaster and cement-based external plaster.
The production of insulating materials on the basis of glass wool and mineral wool becomes more and more important. For about 30 years, the company has gained experience in the production of glass wool in North America. Within the last 5 years, Knauf has acquired 10 glass wool and mineral wool factories throughtout Europe and additionally built new plants in Eastern Europe and Russia.
This year, approximately € 800 million will be invested in the construction of modern production sites for the fabrication of drywall and insulating materials.
During the past years all Knauf plants in Germany have been modernised for more than € 400 million. The Iphofen site has been built completely new. Old production sites have been largely dismantled.
For the coming year, Knauf expects a healthy demand for all construction materials marketed by the group. We are very confident that neither the American mortgage crises nor regional declines in the construction volume can limit our growth.
