Since embarking on a joint venture with Alcopor in 2001, and thereby acquiring most of the European activities of Owens Corning, Knauf Insulation has quickly grown into the world's fastest-growing insulation manufacturer with full ownership of its activities since 2002.

In order to offer a wider range of solutions, Knauf Insulation acquired Heraklith AG, a large player in stone wool and wood wool, with activities mainly in Central and Eastern Europe.
The company is rapidly expanding its insulation manufacturing activities with the roll-out of new manufacturing sites across the world for both glass wool and stone wool and is also upgrading its existing facilities to increase output and cost efficiency.
Today, Knauf Insulation is the fastest growing and one of the largest insulation manufacturers in the world, offering a wide range of insulation materials to meet the growing demand for energy efficiency and acoustic performance in new and existing homes, commercial buildings and industrial applications.
Now, Knauf Insulation has around 5000 employees active in more than 50 countries around the world with 30 manufacturing sites for the production of glass wool, stone wool, wood wool, extruded polystyrene (XPS) and expanded polystyrene (EPS).
